Taking down the tree

We took the tree down last night after the kids went to bed. Lovey cried. He said he couldn't sleep without the tree. Okay, I started to tear up too. I hate taking down the Christmas tree. I love the lights and the beautiful ornaments. Even the pieces of pipe cleaner, construction paper, and yarn that Lovey was insistent on putting on the tree. We let Lovey come down to take off his ornaments and we could still hear him sobbing when we put him back in bed. Oh so sad. He woke up this morning asking if next year he could stay up past his bedtime again to decorate it - so the sadness must have passed.
