I took Littlebit to the doctor today. I have been debating all weekend whether she should go, but I just didn't want to be seen as the worrier parent that I am.
She's had a cold for a week and when she gets a cold she wheezes. I put her on her nebulizer, but it didn't seem to be working (we just went through this at Christmas). I called the doctor last Wednesday and they prescribed another inhaler in addition to her nebulizer. Fine, but it says rinse mouth after use because it can cause oral thrush (and don't let the child swallow the water). Have they ever tried to get an almost 2 year old to rinse their mouth? Sure she can spit, but only when she is testing us. This feat takes two of us and after being bitten I think we may have perfected it, in fact Daddy did it by himself tonight.
Our doctor doesn't work on Tuesdays, so we had to see one that always makes me feel like bad parent. So was I going to be bad parent for not bringing her in sooner or annoying overprotective parent who is imaging things? When we got there her oxygen levels were 100% and she was a little wheezy, so I felt silly for taking her in for that.
I also wanted them to look at her finger because on Saturday she fell pulling a wagon and skinned her middle finger and tore the nail half way down. It vacillates between looking okay and oh my, we need to take her in now! The doctor said she took off the top layer of skin on her finger, so it looks like a burn. The fingernail needs to stay covered so she doesn't catch it on something. It should heal in a week or two. Okay, so maybe she didn't need to be seen for that either.
But wait, while there he checked (and cleaned) her ears and she has a double ear infection! Not what I was expecting, but not a surprise either. (Lovey had them, Daddy had them, and she had one at Christmas.) Wheezing taken care of? Check. Finger checked out okay? Check. Ear infection? Oops. I knew she should go in for some reason, I just had the reason wrong.
