Gifts for friends

Although my blog doesn't show it, I have been busy sewing. I made a skirt for a classmate of Lovey's for her to wear on her birthday. I used the same fabric to make an applique for the shirt and I used scraps for a hair tie. I forgot to take pictures of it though. Her mom says she wants to wear it all of the time.

I embellished some dish towels for a friend for her birthday and for Lovey's teachers for the last day of school. I love the apple and pear fabric.
I also made my friend an apron. She loves polka dots because she says you can't look at polka dots and not be happy. I used an apron I already had as the pattern. I think next time I would make the top wider.
Next on my list are a few dresses for Littlebit and a pair of pajama shorts for Lovey.

Monogrammed Pillow

I made this little pillow for my son's friend for her birthday. I made a purple monkey pillow for her sister's birthday. She originally wanted Hello Kitty, but I couldn't find it. I've been eyeing this little bird fabric for awhile trying to think of something for it. The cover slips off, so she could change it, but I guess then I would have to make her another cover. I think it turned out cute. I think I might have to make one for her brother now.

100th Post and a new outfit for Littlebit

This is my 100th post. Do I have something witty to write about? Nope.

Just a new outfit I made for Littlebit. Unfortunately she cries every time I try to put something I made on her. The day she wore it we had a lot of compliments. The jacket is the Cute as a Button Baby Jacket pattern from Jackie Clark and I made up the skirt. I should have made the jacket a size larger, but it was my first attempt at long sleeves and a hood. It worked out well.

This is the back. Here is the front.

Dresses, soccer, and birthday preparation

After seeing a tutorial for a cute dress on made, I knew I had to make one for Littlebit. It won't fit her very long, but I have two other shirts to work with. It is hard to see the buttons going down the front and the shirt had darts that I ended up using in the dress. It was a little difficult because I was guessing at the sizing and had to draw my own pattern. The shirt used to be mine, but it is so much cuter as a dress for Littlebit.

Wednesday was Lovey's first day of soccer. He had a great time and can't wait to go to practice today.

Yesterday was Lovey's special day at school. The whole family went. We brought chocolate chip pancakes, apples, and hot chocolate for snack. Lovey brought in the book Pirates Don't Change Diapers and I read it to the class. We also took a walking field trip to the elementary school to see the salmon they hatched. The rain held off until we were home!

We also sold our beautiful bedroom set yesterday. It was way to much furniture for our bedroom, so now I get to find new furniture. Hopefully I find a set soon. Our mattress is on the floor and our close are in the laundry baskets and dirty clothes are thrown on the floor of the closet. Yikes!

Lovey also sent out his birthday invitations this week. He is so excited for his dinosaur party. Here is what the outside of his invites look like.

Littlebit's birthday outfit

I'm almost finished with Littlebit's birthday outfit. All I have left are hair accessories! I made her this skirt in brown with white polka dot with a white ribbon with pink and brown polka dots. (This is my new favorite fabric. I used it to make a hooter hider and a diaper case for a friend and a diaper case for myself. It will also be curtains for the craft room.) I took the same fabric and ribbon and added it to a white shirt already in her closet. Perfect!

Crowns

Littlebit's birthday is on Saturday and we are having a princess party, so after seeing these crowns I had to make one for Littlebit. Then Lovey said they had the castle building blocks out at school, so I made two crowns for his school. I also made one for Lovey because he wanted to play prince and princess with Littlebit.

It's only two years late

Littlebit will turn two next weekend and I finally finished her baby blanket. I'm only two years late. (Lovey's was finished before he was born, but it originally started out as a present for another baby ten years before that.) Her blanket is done and will be given to her for her second birthday. All I needed to do was attach the binding, but I didn't want to do it by hand. After reading different directions and trying to use my machine, I finally did it by hand. It is not perfect; the stitches aren't even and there is one corner that needs to be fixed. Any illusions I had about taking up quilting have been put away - for now anyways.

I also made the following doll quilt as practice for the binding. She loves her baby doll she got for Christmas and now her baby can have a blanket too.

This is the front. I used scraps of Christmas fabric I had.

This is the back. I love the swirls in this flannel.
