Operation Organization Day 8
Well it is the last day of Operation Organization and I was supposed to organize the garage. The garage floor was swept, but that is it. We did not have power or phone service ALL DAY. When Big Daddy woke up around 4am, the power was out and when we left at 4:30pm to go out for dinner, the power was still out. I think it came back on shortly after that. Thankfully it wasn't cold today because the house was definitely cold. Its amazing how much we rely on electronics to do things. I wanted to organize the pictures during nap time, but I needed the computer to check the dates. I was going to address thank you cards that Lovey wrote, but the addresses are on the computer. (Do you know how long it takes a 5 year old to write twelve thank you notes? Days and days. I think we averaged one a day.) I suppose the garage organization will need to wait until Big Daddy has another day off.

Operation Organization Day 7
Day 7 is here. It is time to clean out the hall closets and toy closets. My how they seem to get jumbled. The linens are tumbling into each other and toys are spilling into other baskets. Today we will be pulling everything out, wiping down the shelves, and even vacuuming the closet floors. Thankfully this shouldn't take long because I didn't get very far on the office yesterday!

Operation Organization Day 6
Today is Day 6 of Operation Organization. So far we have cleaned the kitchen, bathrooms, family room, and master bedroom.
Today is the day to clean the office. Yikes! This room is ocassionally the dumping ground for things that we don't have time to tend to, don't know where to put, or need to be out of the reach of the kids. Right now it is not that bad and its not that the office needs cleaning, as it is the closet needs organizing. I really need to catch up on some scrapbooking and putting photos in albums. Unfortunately the album pages that I ordered don't arrive until next week. The fabric needs to be refolded and organized by color and the little odds and ends need to find a home.
Since it is January, I need to go through the files and sort out all of the 2009 information and make new folders for 2010. This is the time to sort through all of those product books that may be for things you don't own anymore.
My bedroom looks nice and organized (at least on my side). I went through my closet and have a pile to take to the consignment store and I even called to make an appointment. Hopefully I can keep this room from being a dumping zone.

Operation Organization Day 5
The kids' rooms did not get cleaned yesterday. It was just one of those days in our house. Tantrums, errands to run, crankiness. Then Lovey decided he wants to rearrange his room, so we are putting it off for the weekend. Thankfully their rooms aren't messy and just need a general pick up.
Today is day 5 and the master bedroom. Sometimes this room seems like the dumping ground for things: toys that have been taken away, clothes that no longer fit, and stuff that just did not make it to its home. Today I'm going to sort through clothes that no longer fit or do not look good. Some will go to a consignment shop, some to donate, and some should just go away.
Let's get those master bedrooms cleaned!

Operation Organization Day 4
Day 3 is complete and my family room and living room are were organized. All of the little Christmas treasures have been put away and all the little pieces of random paper has found a home. I was able to revel in clean and organized heaven for all of 20 minutes and then quiet time ended and they promptly came down and started working on a project. At least their mess is contained to the coffee table.
I rearranged the things on top of the fireplace, but I hate this spot and don't know what to put there. Ideas anyone? Help! The lamp is intended for my bedroom, but whenever I get the side table that I want I may put it downstairs next to my black chair.
Here's one corner of the other room. I moved this in here at Christmas time and I like it in the corner. Their books are in one bin and all of their coloring books, crayons, and markers are kept on the shelves. The hippo chair is there so they can sit and read a book.
Today is Day 4 and it is time to clean and organize the kids rooms. Actually they aren't too bad. They closests need some work, so we will be emptying those out and reorganizing. And yes, the kids will be helping!

Operation Organization Day 3
Two days of Operation Organization are complete and I am tired already. I want to quit. My house really isn't messy, I just don't feel organized. This is why I posted it on this blog, to keep me going and accountable. The bathrooms are now fresh and sparkling. The floors still need to be mopped, but I ran out of time. The toilets and tubs are scrubbed and I refolded and organized the kid towels and guest towels. Funny how they went for the bottom towel to take to swimming today and left a jumbled mess. I also wonder how a baby hat got into the cupboard in th bathroom.
Today is Family Room and Living Room. Time to dust, vacuum, rearrange furniture and pick up all the little things that are laying around. For some reason there are directions to toys and one of my husbands Christmas presents still laying on my living room floor. Hello, put it away! Make sure to vacuum under the couch cushions and even move furniture and vacuum under it! It will look so nice and fresh, even if it is only until they get up from quiet time.

Operation Organization
It never fails that after putting the Christmas decorations away, I find one or two hiding around the house. I like things neat and organized, but it seems every time I start organizing I get sidetracked by something or someone. Kids have a funny way of doing that.
I declared this week Operation Organization and I am going to whip my house into shape. Hopefully.
I have divided my house into eight areas and hope to tackle one area each day.
Day One: Kitchen
Day Two: Bathrooms (we have three)
Day Three: Family Room and Living Room
Day Four: Kid rooms
Day Five: Master Bedroom
Day Six: Office
Day Seven: Hall and Toy Closets
Day Eight: Garage/Outside Shed
Today is Day One and the Kitchen. Clean out those cupboards. Get rid of anything you don't use anymore or want. This is the time to wipe down the pantry shelves and clean out the refrigerator. Wipe down the front of the cupboards, scrub the sink, microwave, and stovetop.
