The Sound of Freedom

We live by a military base. On most days you don't really notice. Occasionally helicopters fly over our house and if they are flying low, our house shakes. Sometimes during the day, you can hear them firing. They publish in the paper when they will be firing at night, but nothing really prepares you for your house to start shaking and thunderous booms at 3:30 in the morning.

This morning Big Daddy and I woke up to a large boom and then the house shaking. He looked at me and I said, "It's just the base."

He said, "Oh, the sounds of freedom."

Yeah, I wasn't feeling very free, I felt held hostage. It wasn't just once, it was 10 or 15 times at least. I understand that they need to practice at night, but at 3:30 in the morning???? Come on! At least the kids slept through it.
