I designed two invitations and let him choose the one he liked. The first was a ticket that I designed on the computer and the second was a cut-out baseball. Of course he chose the baseball, the one I had to make by had. I cut out a baseball and wrote the names on the front. On the reverse it said:
Batter Up!
It's time for some baseball fun!
Lovey is turning 7
and would like for you to come!
I decorated our door with some baseball decals that I had and the number 7, since Lovey was turning 7. I am not sure he noticed, since he came in through the garage after baseball practice that day. Oh well.Inside I had made a happy birthday baseball pennant banner. It was really heavy and would not stay on the wall.
When the kids first arrived, I had them decorate a baseball pennant with their name on it and then it was time to play some games!
We played pin the baseball on the mitt and hot baseball (like hot potato). We also through baseballs at a hole cut in a cardboard box. I cut the box open, flipped it inside out and then taped it shut. I drew another baseball glove and glued it to the box. (You can tell that it used to be a box for a carseat).
We also used ping pong balls to play the egg on a spoon race.
Next it was time to open presents and enjoy some cake and ice-cream. Lovey's favorite color is green, so I knew the base of the cake would be green, but I wanted the writing to be blue. I ended up with the Mariner's teal blue totally by accident and he was thrilled. The infield is brown sugar and graham cracker crumbs and the bases and lines are fondant. He insisted that I make pennants for the outfield.
All of the kids went home with a treat bag. Inside were baseball cards, sports silly bandz, baseball pencils, and erasers and a Mariner's notebook.
What a great party!
