New Floors Part 6

We are inching closer to being done. This project has taken a lot longer than I think either of us anticipated. I know we kept adding things to it, but there were other things beyond our control. We've also gone slightly above our budget, so it is a blessing that we weren't able to do the bathroom remodel we planned. I am also glad that we got a great deal on the price of the wood and tile. I even have some boxes to take back!

Our tile guy finally started Thursday. Well, he started in the afternoon. His cousin came in the morning and cut tile for the downstairs bathroom, but he was so slow! Once the tile guy showed up, he worked much faster. The bathroom downstairs and the laundry room look really good. There are a few tiles that stick up higher that the others, but they will be hidden by the washer and dryer. I am brought it up to him before he did the kitchen and bathroom and there is one or two, but they are under the cupboard area. The wire and self-leveler were put down in the kitchen and bathroom. Yesterday he put the self leveler in our bathroom, but it didn't dry in time to tile it. Hopefully it is tiled today and grouted! The electrician should be here soon to connect the warm wire.

I can't wait to have my kitchen back. I miss my stove and oven. We've had to be creative with our meals lately. We've made grilled pizza and grilled quesadillas. We've also had hot dogs twice, the kids were in heaven!

We pulled the carpet off of the stairs, so we can officially say that the carpet is out of our house! It does make the house loud without any carpet. We don't have any rugs and everything is off the walls in the hall, so that doesn't help. Those things will have to wait. We finished painting the stairwell and will put the floor on the stairs this weekend. I am a little nervous about our decision to put wood on the stairs. It's a little to late to be doubting myself now, but I am. Everyone keeps saying we don't want to do that, but then I see all these beautiful pictures with wood stairs. It looks funny with just carpet there. If we don't like it or if it is too slick, we can put a runner there or something. I am always second guessing myself though.

Laundry room finished. Hooray! Nine days without a washing machine meant we had a lot of laundry to do!

Kitchen finished. We just need to seal the grout, put the moulding and transitions on and then we can move the appliances back in. Which means we won't be living like this anymore:

Yikes! Don't you love the refrigerator and stove flanking the couch!

We are slowing inching towards being done and we are so ready!
