Friday Night Football

Friday night we gave Lovey the choice of going to a high school football game or a college basketball game. He chose the football game.

My high school was playing a game just over an hour away. After Lovey got off the bus, we bundled up the kids and drove to the game. With traffic it took 2 hours and since it was an impromptu trip we had McDonald's for dinner - ugh not my favorite. When we arrived at the school, we had trouble getting in the parking lot because there were police redirecting traffic. We finally managed to park and with plenty of time to spare.

Lovey couldn't wait to get to the field, but it was cold outside and we weren't ready to get out of the car. We finally made our way to the visitor bleachers and found a place to sit. They were passing out little pompoms for people to use and Littlebit was so excited.

Lovey had a great time watching to the game and wanted to stay for the whole thing. Littlebit was ready to go home at the kickoff. So was I, my high school was not doing very well! Littlebit was entertained by the cheerleaders and after all the years (more than I care to mention) they still do many of the same cheers as when I was in school. I haven't been to a high school football game since my brother played. On the team was my cousin's son. His was one of the few names I recognized, especially since my former students are all college age now. (Boy do I feel really old.) It was nice to get a chance to talk to my cousin and some friends from high school. Unfortunately we ended up losing the game, but Lovey had a great time and so did I.
